Kimmel, Foxx, Celebs Steal Show Before Mayweather/Pacquiao
There were some surprising happenings before the unsurprising bout.
The result cards are in and nobody liked watching Floyd Mayweather beat Manny Pacquiao with his trademark defensive style last night in Las Vegas. The fight stunk. It was slow, plodding, and, worst of all, Bieber's buddy won. Again. Thankfully, there were some pre-fight happenings that made sitting through the endless build-up tolerable.
Jimmy Kimmel was part of Manny Pacquiao's entourage during introductions
This is very weird, but less so when you discover Kimmel begged the Filipino fighter for the opportunity just a few days ago on his show:
Then, Jamie Foxx sang an even weirder "Star Spangled Banner"
Judging by Foxx's reaction at the end, even he didn't know quite what to make of his warbling version of our country's national anthem. And someone needs to shoot the organ player.
Plus, the crowd was typically star-studded so it was fun seeing who loves boxing enough to pay thousands of dollars for a ringside seat. Here's the list:
The Southpaw team of Jake Gyllenhaal and Antoine Fuqua
The Training Day team of Denzel Washington and Fuqua
Birdman himself, Michael Keaton
Cassie and Sean Combs
Lil Wayne and Christina Milian
Michael Jordan and Yvette Prieto
Games of Thrones' Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
Donald and Melania Trump
Four-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady
The voice of HBO Sports Liev Schrieber
